The Connaught Theatre was spilling over with laughter from start to finish as the much-loved story of Bren and Tony's relationship was condensed from the second of the TV series to about two hours on stage. Original cast members Andrew Dunn and Shobna Gulati recreated their roles as Tony and Anita, while the rest of the new cast did an admirable job of keeping the characters as close to the originals as possible. Stella Ross, particularly, could so easily have been Anne Reid in the part of Jean '“ and maybe it's her voice-over specialities that helped keep even the voice true. The show was a delight, bringing all the best of the well-remembered lines back to life, thanks to David Graham's adaptation from the TV scripts. Even the front-of-house staff were in their pinnies to greet people, which made a lovely little addition to the evening.
