THERE'S a chance to join in a Big Picnic on August 24 to celebrate the end of the Beijing Olympics and the start of the four-year run-up to the London Olympics in 2012.
There will be free entertainment at Fishersgate Recreation Ground from 3pm to 7pm, with music from live bands, an aerial trapeze, youth circus, dancing, comedy, a beer tent, stalls and extra food and drink. Just bring your own picnic.

A Big Picn
ic will take place in every district or borough of West Sussex to mark the launch of Celebrate West Sussex, a four-year celebration in the run-up to the Olympics which will engage local communities in developing, creating and experiencing the arts and sports.

The events will be connected by a travelling relay, each picnic handing a symbolic baguette baton over to the next as they take place.

Adur District Council chairman Brian Coomber will receive the baton for the district at 6pm at Fishersgate. The relay will then move on to Worthing, the last event of the day.
