THE 39th arts and crafts festival at Shoreham Methodist Church will be opened on August 16.
This annual event was founded by local artist Mollie Harvey, who died 10 years ago. A service of dedication for the festival will be held at 10.30am on Sunday at the church in Brunswick Road.

It will be conducted by the Rev Pat Hunter, a former
minister of the church. Her husband, Brian, will formally open the festival on Saturday at 10.30am.

The event aims to provide a showcase for local artists and, this year, Aubrey Willett will be exhibiting his work, including a painting of Shoreham's famous St Mary's Church which he has just finished.

As well as paintings, there will be several craft stalls, including jewellery, needlework, soft toys and cards. Proceeds are distributed among various local and national charities.

The festival is open from 10am to 5.30pm daily, except on Sunday, when it is open from noon to 4pm. It ends on Thursday.
