Sizzling Holmes too hot to handle for Rocks

It was a scorching performance in the searing heat at Nyewood Lane.

Ricky Holmes was certainly too hot for Bognor to handle on a sweltering Saturday.

The winger was among 11 changes Guy Whittingham made to his side at half-time, when the Blues were leading 1-0.

In the following 45 minutes, Holmes weighed in with a goal and two assists as the scoreline was settled 4-2 in the visitors’ favour.

For Pompey fans, it was the second opportunity to get a glimpse of the former Barnet man in action.

And Holmes was delighted with his performance on a wilting afternoon.

He said: ‘That is my job as a winger, I chip in with goals and hopefully get the most assists at the club.

‘I was involved in all three goals scored in the half I featured in and hopefully there is more to come.
