ARUNDEL Cricket Club captain Will Clark was furious with his side's batting display on Saturday.
Arundel lost by seven wickets, their ninth defeat in 12 games this season, and Clark said: "I don't really want to say too much about our batting because it was just appalling. It was even embarrassing at times.
"If we'd got up to 150 or 160, I think we'd have probably won the game.
"We needed only four runs-an-over from the last 12 overs to get 150 but nine of our 10 wickets were caught, and four of our last five were caught at long-off.
"There's no excuses because everyone got themselves out."
Clark top-scored with an unbeaten 31 and Gareth Bricknell hit 26 in Arundel's total of 114.
It then took Goring 37.5 overs to reach their target, and Clark said: "We bowled well, which was the only saving grace from the day because we also dropped two catches — which, if we'd taken, would have got them 50-4."
Arundel host runaway leaders Middleton on Saturday.
