Operator Southern Rail has rebuffed claims the station was among 12 sites across West Sussex where the staffed office could be replaced by a ticket machine. Concerns arose after details of the McNulty Report, which looked at value for money on the rail network, were released by the Transport Salaried Staffs’ association last week. A Southern Rail spokeswoman said: “The McNulty report makes recommendations for the future for the government to consider. “Southern has no plans to close any ticket offices.” However, a new ticket machine will be installed at the station in October. The machine is one of 156 being installed by Southern Rail across its stations as part of a £3.1m investment.
