The happy-looking symbol of summer is to be found in Middleton. Jeanne Wise planted the seed on a strip of land at the retirement flats complex on Elmer Road and watched it grow into a 7ft tall plant. Her neighbour, Reg Moore, added the artistic touch by sticking on two eyes, a nose and a little red mouth.
