THEOBALDS GREEN BURIAL GROUND: Set within an attractive, wooded site adjoining the Cuckoo Trail with access off the B2203, Heathfield and Waldron Parish Council have opened two new burial ground areas. One is a woodland burial site, which will be allowed to mature into an ecologically friendly wildflower and wildlife area and the other is a traditional burial ground which will be regularly mown and maintained and where memorials are allowed. Between the two areas is an oak cart lodge building, providing some shelter for those gathering at the burial ground, and an accessible toilet. Car parking areas are provided and the burial grounds are situated furthest away from the road and accessed through the attractive allotment area. The whole site is surrounded by mature trees and hedgerow and provides a quiet, peaceful environment.

The Woodland Burial Ground is managed for the benefit of wildlife and will not be maintained in the manner of a traditional burial ground. Headstones are not permitted and only biodegradable coffins or cremated remains urns may be used. Wildflowers
