Gatwick Airport: Transport Secretary to make statement on airport expansion

The Transport Secretary will set out how the Government will respond to The Airports Commission’s recommendations on airport expansion in the South East.

Sir Howard Davies, chairman of The Airports Commission, today (Wednesday July 1) said its ‘clear and unanimous’ conclusion was to expand Heathrow instead of Gatwick.

Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin said: “My department has received the final report from the Airports Commission and will now consider that advice in detail.
