COUNTY NEWS: Pensioners take on Fifty Shades of Grey
Donning masquerade masks and devil horns, the Ashington Minibus Group joined the Ashington Festival parade, which runs through the centre of the village.
To honour this year’s theme of ‘favourite book’ many floats and walkers dressed up as Hungry Caterpillars, the pirates of Treasure Island and Mr Men, to name a few, but a group of elderly residents, including a 90-year-old, took it to the next level by decorating their minibus with handcuffs, rope and a bodice.

Hide AdThey may have raised a few eyebrows, but the float based on the E.L. James bestseller impressed the judges who awarded the group first place and the £100 prize money.
