Review: Charmed by boutique hotel in Kemptown
The luxury boutique hotel on New Steine offers a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere, and you’re immediately put at ease when walking through the door.
My partner and I received a warm welcome from the receptionist, who checked us in to our King Suite Sea View room.

Hide AdThe hotel was fully-booked in January which is always a good sign, and making our way up the stairs, when we stepped foot into room, we could see why it was a popular choice for visitors.
The bedroom boasted a monster of a bed, with a luxurious goose-down feather duvet and pillows.
We had a view over the square and the sea, and the neutral colours of the room gave a real sense of tranquillity.
The red chairs and a glass table by the window gave the room a splash of colour, and was the perfect setting to sit back, relax and gaze out to sea, as I did the next morning with a coffee.

Fluffy bathrobes, soft deep-pile towels and slippers were on hand, and the bathroom offered a number of luxury, organic toiletries to make you feel suitably pampered.
After exploring the room, we decided to spend the evening in Kemp Town, as despite The Charm being a short walk from the city centre, the St James’ Street area has a vibrant nightlife, smattered with trendy restaurants and brilliant boozers.
The hotel is in the perfect spot for a stroll along the seafront, or a jaunt into town, depending on what takes your fancy.

As everyone knows one of the best things about staying in a nice hotel is the prospect of a brilliant breakfast - which is guaranteed to get you out of that comfortable bed. And The Charm did not disappoint.
There’s options for all appetites; a Full English, vegetarian or vegan cooked breakfast, as well as Eggs Benedict, Eggs Royale, a smoked salmon omelette or scrambled eggs on toast, as well as a selection of continental breakfast items and cereal.
We were very much in need of a big breakfast, so my partner went for the full English and I opted for a vegetarian breakfast, both with poached eggs.

Hide AdWhile we waited for out freshly cooked breakfast, we were impressed that there was a proper coffee machine so guests can have their fill of latte, espresso or something in between.
We were also offered toast and juice, with a selection of jam and marmalade on our table to tide us over until our cooked breakfast arrived. Not that we had to wait long for the main event.
My partner’s Full English included a succulent pork sausage, to rashers of crispy bacon, a hash brown , button mushrooms, half a cooked tomato, a poached egg and beans.
And my vegetarian breakfast offered two hash browns, two halves of cooked tomato, mushrooms, beans a poached egg and a delicious vegetarian sausage.

Hide AdWe were both really impressed with the breakfast, which is one of the best we’d had a hotel.
Making our way back up to our room to get ready to check out, we were rather sad to have to leave.
Staying at The Charm had been heavenly; a little slice of tranquillity to enjoy in a busy and vibrant city.
It’s perfect for a relaxing weekend away, or as a place to recuperate while enjoying what Brighton has to offer.
Rooms start at £70 a night. The King Suite Sea View room is £135 a night.
