THE photo above shows the probable site of an access road to the new commuter station serving the sprawling housing estate proposed to be built across Ford, Yapton and Climping, masquerading as Ford "Eco-Town".
At the moment it is my small piece of Heaven. Winter, spring, summer or autumn, whether I am walking in the silver light of the morning or in the golden rays of the evening, its beauty takes my breath away and calms my soul.
The sound-track is birdsong.
I share this little piece of Paradise with a family of roe deer, darting through the tall grasses and daisies, with a barn owl and a cuckoo and hundreds of other birds, unseen but not unheard.
And with thousands of insects and small creatures, their way of life undisturbed for hundreds of years, and clouds of butterflies.
Each one of us living in our now threatened countryside has our own hidden but treasured place of quiet and beauty, imprinted on our soul.
The Eco-Town promoters may have their millions but we have riches that cannot be measured in mere monetary terms.
We are not going to let them steal our treasure away from us.
We have 11 days left to fight, 11 days to prevent those special places being destroyed for ever. Forget Caroline Flint.
Go to the top and direct your flints and arrows at Gordon Brown, with a copy to the Eco-Town promoters.
Come on, you Yaptonians, you Fordonians and you Climpingians. Let the final battle commence.
