An inspection carried out showed that asbestos cement sheets are a ‘common feature’ in the buildings. Out of 10 building material samples tested, nine contained asbestos, the plans say.
The demolition will make way for ‘consented commercial units’, according to the documents, but no further details are disclosed about future plans for the site at the moment.
If approved, work is expected to start February 11 and should take a month, plans say.
